[edit] History

Supergirl, Green Arrow, and John Stewart were transported to the 30th Century by Brainiac 5 and Bouncing Boy in order to rescue the rest of the Legion from the Fatal Five. Despite Stewart falling to a mind-control device, the heroes were able to win the day. Partially due to her comfort with the Legion's advanced era, and partially due to a mutual attraction between her and Brainiac 5, Supergirl elected to stay behind (or ahead, rather) in the 30th Century as a member of the Legion.

[edit] Powers & Abilities

Brainiac 5 has no innate superpowers apart from his vast 12th-level intellect and a knowledge of hand-to-hand combat, but wears a powerful force-field belt of his own design. He also possesses a standard-issue Legion flight ring.

[edit] Background Information

Other than the tri-circled Brainiac symbol, Brainiac 5 bears little to no resemblance to his ancestor outside of a vast intellect and the curious blue-green hue of his skin.

Since Brainiac 5 is an organic being, it is difficult to determine the method of his creation. One possible theory involves the merging of the original Brainiac with Lex Luthor in the early 21st Century. Brainiac may have been able to duplicate his consciousness in an organic brain due to his direct connection to Luthor's mind. There is also a slight possibility that Brainiac 5 is a descendant of Lex Luthor, or since he is blond and smart, perhaps Richie Foley, as he also once bonded with Brainiac. However, both are only speculation.
