Derek Powers was Wayne-Powers CEO, and Gotham's most successful and powerful businessman. Powers was also responsible for the death of Terry McGinnis's father, and consequently for the creation of the second Batman.

After an unfortunate accident with a deadly gas, Powers' cellular structure was permanently imbued with the radiation that cured him, and thereafter his body glowed bright green. His very touch became lethal, and could burn through objects on contact. Endowed with radioactive powers, Derek became "Blight."
