[edit] History

Colonel Jordan was stationed outside of Metropolis. His plane was heavily damaged during a battle between Sinestro and Kyle Rayner.[2]

[edit] Alternate Timeline

During one of the fluctuations in the unstable alternate timeline created by Chronos in the 2050s, Hal Jordan briefly replaced John Stewart. Jordan appealed to Enid Clinton to help the Justice League Unlimited find her husband and fix the timeline. The timeline fluctuated once again and John Stewart was restored.[1]

[edit] Background Information

Hal Jordan, test pilot and ring-bearer of Sector 2814 was DC Comics' Silver Age Green Lantern, and one of the cofounders of the Justice League of America in the DC Universe. After the Cyborg Superman and Mongul destroyed his home town of Coast City, Hal was possessed by Parallax, the Yellow impurity of the Power Rings, and destroyed the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Jordan was briefly able to break through Parallax and reignited the sun during the events of Final Night, and then became the host of the Spectre. During the Green Lantern: Rebirth miniseries, the Spectre was able to separate Parallax from Jordan, and Ganthet was able to guide his soul back to his body. Hal Jordan is once again a Green Lantern, alongside other Green Lanterns like Kyle Rayner and John Stewart.

Hal Jordan was the first choice for the Green Lantern on Justice League, but John Stewart was chosen to bring diversity to the team. A reference in the Superman: The Animated Series episode "In Brightest Day..." establishes that Hal exists in the DCAU and is a military pilot. Justice League Unlimited "The Once and Future Thing Part Two: Time, Warped" establishes that Hal is a ring bearer in the DCAU at some unspecified point in time, or, following the logic that Wonder Woman vanished following the creation of a fluctuation in her personal timeline, Hal Jordan served as Green Lantern in an alternate timeline that briefly crossed over into the mainline DCAU. His origin is a mystery, since Kyle Rayner was substituted in a modified version of Hal's origin story in "In Brightest Day...".

An interesting thing to note, is that Hal Jordan is the first Green Lantern to appear in the DCAU to be seen wearing his classic costume from the comics in his first (and only) appearance, as opposed to the typical uniforms seen during In Brightest Day... and the entirety of Justice League. Given that each Green Lantern was allowed to have a more personalized suit as of The Return, this may provide one reason as to why.

[edit] Powers and Abilities

Hal Jordan derived his powers from a Power Ring.
