Joe Chill was the gunman who killed Thomas and Martha Wayne in front of young Bruce Wayne.

He appeared in a dream sequence, in which Batman was affected by the Black Mercy and placed in a fantasy world in which Thomas had managed to fight back against Joe Chill. When Wonder Woman managed to call out to Batman to remove the Black Mercy, the situation in his dream sequence changed for the worse to "young Bruce's" horror. In the last moments of the fantasy scene, Joe Chill finally managed to overpower Thomas and kill him.
