Batman, otherwise known as Bruce Wayne, was a Gotham City vigilante who rose up to fight common criminals, Metahuman threats, and eventually even gods, extradimensional entities and intergalactic tyrants. He was instrumental in thwarting the Imperium and Thanagarian invasions, and was a founding member of the Justice League.

Unlike many of his colleagues and adversaries, Batman has no superhuman abilities. He relies instead on his keen mind and years of physical and mental training. He also keeps himself supplied with high-tech gadgets obtained through his relationship with Wayne Enterprises.

Later in life, Bruce Wayne would train and provide support and guidance for the second Batman.
