People in Diamond Springs knew of Foley's son Jason and his interest in robotics. When the Arlington Mercy hospital was cleaned up, they came to him with the parts. He passed them along to his son, asking him to be careful. With deliveries continuing to come in the next morning, Foley feared his son had disregarded that advice.
Returning home from work, he found his house surrounded by police.
