Oberon had always supported Scott Free, even though he sometimes disapproved of his over the top, dangerous stunts. Oberon had a grumpy temper, typical of an old man, and often bumped heads with Big Barda, but deep down they cared about each other. After a successful rehearsal, Oberon was kidnapped by Granny Goodness, as a bargaining chip for her to blackmail Mister Miracle into rescuing Kalibak from Virman Vundabar. Oberon was held in Darkseid's old palace, and was saved by the Flash just in the knick of time ― before being chopped up by one of Granny Goodness's torture device.
