Sharon and Virgil help Dr. Anokye set up a West African Exhibit at the museum. Anokye receives a call, then hides a golden spider in Sharon's coat pocket and tells her and Virgil to leave. On the way home, Virgil realizes he left his backpack at the museum, so he returns to get it. He sees Anokye is being attacked by a giant bug and changes into Static to stop it. Later, Anansi appears to tell Static that his old enemy, Osebo, is after the golden spider, the source of Anansi's powers. Meanwhile, Sharon discovers the Spider in her pocket and begins testing it. She goes to Richie for help in figuring it out, but Onini attacks Richie's house and kidnaps Sharon. Static, Gear, and Anansi track them to their hideout to regain the golden spider and free Sharon.

• The title of the episode is taken from the book and film Out of Africa.
• Onini the Serpent and Mmoboro the Hornet were part of the story of Anansi and Osebo in West African folklore. In order to receive all the world's stories from his father, Nyame the sky god, Anansi the Spider had to bring him Onini, Osebo, Mmoboro, and Mmoatia, the Dwarf. Why the last one is missing from this version of the tale is unknown.
• Gear makes the second reference to Marvel asset Spider-Man in the DCAU: in the Superman: The Animated Series episode "Unity," Kara was reading a comic version of him.

Sharon: (answers cell phone) Hello? Robert: Sharon? This is your father. (chuckles) Guess where I am? (cut to Robert, angry, in the kitchen) I'm in the kitchen looking at the dirty dishes...the dirty dishes you are going to be washing every night for the next month! (hangs up) Sharon: Oh, yeah. Now I remember.
