"P.O.V." is the thirteenth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series. After a failed bust, Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya and a rookie, Wilkes, are put under investigation. Each one of them offers up a story on what really happened during their failure. Of course, views seem to conflict and Bullock is quick to blame Batman for the mistakes.

[edit] Plot
It's night in Gotham City and Renee Montoya and a partner race through the city trying to reach Harvey Bullock with time to spare. However, when they reach the target warehouse they find that it's on fire and Bullock is outside groaning in pain. While Renee scolds Bullock for not waiting a couple of thugs run out of the place and Renee tells Wilkes to go after them while she searches the warehouse for any stragglers. Bullock struggles to his feet and looks up seeing Batman is on the roof.
Later, the three officers are sitting under the lights while Lieutenant Hackle complains about how long it took to set up the sting and the two million cash bait being lost. He suggests that the three officers were in on it and are on the take.
Bullock says that Batman is to blame and Montoya and Wilkes were late so he went in alone. According to Bullock, he saw Batman go inside and fearing that the bust would be ruined he went inside (In truth, Bullock arrived and without waiting, entered the warehouse). While inside he saw the thieves drilling into the safe and the Batman caused a loud noise to ring out and tip the thieves (Bullock was closing in and he tripped on a paint can alerting the thieves). The thieves attacked Bullock and during the ensuing fight, a misaimed axe swing caused a fuse box to short and cause a fire. Bullock goes on to explain that he had everything under control until Batman spoiled everything. Fortunately, Bullock managed to save him (Bullock had been defeated by criminals and left for dead but Batman saved him).
When Bullock finishes his story, Hackle questions if Bullock went in for the collar or the cash. Commissioner Gordon insists that Hackle ease up but he refuses. He also refuses to believe that Batman was to blame and demands to know the real reason Bullock went in alone. Bullock tries to avert the suspicion by telling Hackle to question Renee and Wilkes about why they were late. Wilkes insists that they weren't late and is questioned next.
According to Wilkes, he and Montoya weren't late and when they arrived Bullock was late and two suspects ran out of the warehouse. Wilkes went after them and followed them into an alley. He found to his dismay that they had entered into an escape vehicle and they attempted to run him over. Fortunately, Batman arrived and stopped the criminals by throwing spikes onto the floor blowing out the van's tires. "It was incredible! The Batman threw out his hand and sparks flew out of his fingertips!" Batman then fired an electrified grapple at the van and blew it open. "Then he pointed his fingers and some kind of ray shot out at the van!" Afterwards one of the criminals tried to escape but Batman threw a batarang at him and cased him to fall. "The guy tried to bolt, and the Batman just pointed at 'im-- Wham! He drops! It was unbelievable!" Batman then apprehended the criminal and questioned him. The man then said "Doc" but Wilkes couldn't hear any more.
James Gordon adds on that the police is still interrogating the suspect. Hackle insists that Wilkes isn't telling him the whole truth and Montoya snaps at him saying that Wilkes told all that he knows. This invites Hackle to question her.
Montoya confirms that they were on time and that Bullock was down. While Wilkes went after the escaping suspects, she went into the warehouse to search for the remaining thugs. While inside she overheard someone saying the name "Hathcock." The thugs caught sight of her but before she could apprehend them, a stack of paint cans exploded and her gun was blown from her hands. The thugs approached her with a drill but Batman arrived and stopped them. However, before Montoya could cuff them, the roof collapsed and Batman shoved her out of the way of the falling timbers but was unable to escape himself.
Hackle is unsympathetic and notes that the officers told him two different stories: Bullock insists that his partners were late and they insist that he went in early. Because of this, Hackle suspends all three officers until he's made his decision. The officers reluctantly give up their badges and weapons and leave without word.
Later, Montoya is riding a public transport and works on figuring out who "Doc Hathcock" really is. She realizes that maybe it wasn't a person but a place, "DOCK Hathcock." Conveniently, she's by Gotham Harbor but decides not to tell anyone and goes in alone. While there, she sees a warehouse labeled, "Hathcock." She looks inside a window and finds that the thugs (referred to in the credits as "Driller" and "Scarface") have Batman tied up and are fiddling around with his utility belt. Using a lock pick, Montoya enters inside.
Meanwhile Batman asks where "The Boss" is and when he learns the location, he frees himself. Batman easily takes care of one of the thugs but another draws a gun on him. Montoya manages to stop this criminal and she and Batman team up. The rest of the thugs head out after the duo and Batman steps up to the challenge. Renee is also able to hold up her own and most of the thugs are taken down. However, a thug grabs up a machine gun and fires upon them. Batman takes Montoya up to a loading crane and leaves her inside. While Batman faces the gang, Montoya uses the crane to drop a crate onto the dock causing them to fall into the water. Knowing he's been beat the gang's leader runs into a ship and tries to make his getaway. However, a thug tries to run batman over with a forklift. Batman overpowers him, takes the forklift and rams the ship. Still unwilling to accept capture, the boss tries to escape but Montoya catches him with the crane's claw.
With the gang apprehended, the police arrive on the scene and finish with the clean up. Gordon compliments Montoya on her success but Hackle still insists that she's suspended. However, Gordon gets angry and takes back the badges. The three officers are then reinstated and even Bullock thanks Montoya for her help.
