[edit] Plot

After defeating Puff and Onyx, Static and Gear notice a billboard advertising a new show called "Heroes", staring Static. Static visits the office of film producer Bernie Rast and tells him he doesn't want to star in any movie. But Rast convinces him that kids need a role model and Static reluctantly agrees. Rast, who is a rude and arrogant boss with his staff, tells Static that Gear isn't in the plan but Static convinces him to revise that. Static and Gear go on patrol with two camera helicopters flying with them wherever they go.

A criminal by the name of Starburst breaks into a bank and Static and Gear try to stop him. Their powers have no effect on him and Rast is furious saying they looked bad in filming. Gear lets Static fight Starburst because it seems his powers are similar to Static's. For the next two days Static fights Starburst with embarrassing results and bad press. Richie plays the footage of Static's last encounter with Starburst and notes that Static's attack should have stopped him, that is, if he were a metahuman. They discover a pack on his suit that could be the source of his powers but it would need to receive the powers from somewhere else. Static and Gear lay a trap for Starburst.

During filming Starburst guy reappears. Instead of fighting him, Static destroys the microphone and recorder that were on him. Starburst quickly loses his powers and they capture him easily. It's Rast's assistant, Brandon, who did it because he needed funding for the script Rast never looked at.

[edit] Production Inconsistencies

  • No director is credited.

[edit] Trivia

  • When Bernie tells his pilot the tension is so high he'd want to cut in a commercial break, there actually is a commercial break.
  • Gear's line, "Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" is a nod to Warner Bros. show Pinky and the Brain, though the word Brain (Maurice LaMarche) used was "pondering", not "thinking". The second part of the gag - Pinky (Rob Paulsen) giving a complete non sequitur answer - is omitted.
