Plot Edit

Virgil wonders why Richie never invites him over to his house to hang out. Richie tries to avoid the question, but Virgil presses and Richie invites him over on a night he thinks his father will be out. Things are fine until Richie's father, Sean, shows up and starts making derogatory comments that Virgil tries to ignore. But then Virgil overhears Mr. Foley make a racist comment. He turns to Richie, and they both feel sad. Richie argues with his father, then runs away. Mr. Foley goes to Virgil's dad to see if he knows where Richie is, and they reluctantly work together to search for him. Static finds him and says they are still friends and to go home. However, in the shadows, Ebon lurks, overhearing this and kidnaps Richie to lure Static into a trap. Robert and Mr. Foley find Richie first and try to take out Ebon and Shiv, but soon Static finds them and makes a rescue. Richie's father changes his racist attitude and tries to listen to his son now.

Quotes Edit

Mr. Foley: What's going on down there?
Richie: Well, you got what you wanted, Dad! My best friend's gone 'cause of you and your stupid racism! I hate you!

Robert: You sure you're ok?
Virgil: Yeah, pops. I'm cool. I'd be even cooler with a new stereo, though.
Robert: Then I wouldn't be cool. Stick with your old stereo.
Virgil: Hey, I had to give it a shot!

Mr. Foley: What your son heard, Hawkins, I wasn't talking about him.
Robert: No, you were talking about his KIND, that's all. And I know your kind, Foley. I've seen your kind all my life. A fine, outstanding bigot, his nose so close to the grindstone, he can't see anything else. Meanwhile, the world changes and grows, and he's blind to it, ignorant, and proud of that, too! And you know the worst part?
Mr. Foley: I'm sure you'll tell me...
Robert: You've got a terrific son, one of the best and brightest around. And 'cause of the way you are, you'll never get to really know him. Richie ran away from you a long time ago, Foley, and who could blame him?
